The current government shutdown has raised questions for many regarding the potential impact on Social Security Disability claims. Finding answers can be very challenging and this situation further complicates a process that can be entirely too frustrating for individuals trying to navigate the system of the Social Security Administration (SSA) on their own.
What has been impacted?
Rest assured, despite the shutdown, we continue to actively manage our clients’ cases with the SSA, local Disability Determination Services (DDS) and the Office of Disability Adjudication and Review (ODAR), as these agencies continue to operate with reduced staff levels. We also continue to file applications and appeals on behalf of our clients.
While the shutdown has caused a delay in the scheduling of hearings and slowed processing times within the SSA, our efforts have not been slowed or diminished.
