Crumley Roberts is conducting a Bike Safety Rodeo on Fri., Oct. 12, at Eastlawn Elementary School in Burlington from 11 am to 12:30 pm. Crumley Roberts will draw the names of two students in grades 3-5 and will present these winners with new bikes as a way to reward local students’ academic commitments and achievements.  The firm will also provide all students with complimentary bike helmets.

The event recognizes dedication through academics and also promotes bike safety. Students from Eastlawn will be honored for attending school during their Intercession, which lasts from Oct. 8-12. The optional Intercession program provides additional academic support to children needing it in reading and math, and also offers a fun incentive for children to stay involved.  The commitments of the 45 students who attended will be honored during Friday’s bike rodeo celebration.

Eastlawn Elementary School operates a Title I program, a federal program that provides financial assistance to local school systems and schools with high percentages of children living in poverty as a way to support the academic achievement of disadvantaged students. The program helps students achieve proficiency on challenging State academic achievement standards, such as reading, math and writing.

“We commend these students for their extra time and commitment during their fall break,” said Chris Roberts, Crumley Roberts’ president. “We are honored to team up with Eastlawn Elementary School, and what better way to support education than to teach and promote safety as well.”

Crumley Roberts puts a strong emphasis on educating youths about safety and injury prevention through the Crumley Roberts SafetyZone, which offers sports safety clinics, bike safety events and child car seat safety checks. The bike safety events offer safety promotions, classroom presentations, bike rodeos and basic skill challenges for groups. The events also focus on safety demonstrations and hands-on activities to educate youths about identifying the dangers while riding bikes, using hand traffic signals, the importance of wearing a helmet, and much more.
